Plymouth Argyle Prepare for Challenging Trip to Blackpool

Plymouth Argyle head to the seaside this afternoon with the wind at their backs and the miles piling up on the clock.

Fresh from three wins in their last four League One outings, the Pilgrims arrive at Bloomfield Road looking like a side starting to find its stride. They have tightened up at Home Park, seeing off Bradford City 2-0 and dismantling Barnsley 3-0, and they have shown edge on the road too, edging Doncaster Rovers 3-2 in South Yorkshire on September 5.

Now comes a very different kind of away day. Blackpool away means a 642-mile round trip from Plymouth, the club’s second-longest journey of the season. Only the trek to Bradford in early February will take them further, and that is only by a handful of miles. It is the sort of trip that tests focus as much as form.

Blackpool, under Ian Evatt, sit 10th in League One, four places and two points behind Argyle. Their record – two wins, two draws, two defeats from six – screams inconsistency, a team still working out exactly what it wants to be.

Last weekend summed them up. Twice they led at Bloomfield Road against Bromley, through Albie Morgan and Tom Bloxham. Twice they were pegged back, forced to settle for a 2-2 draw on their own pitch.

Argyle arrive with momentum. Blackpool arrive with questions. Bloomfield Road will decide which story gathers pace.
