PSG Abandons Zion Suzuki Transfer Deal After Agent Demand
What looked like a done deal for Zion Suzuki has fallen apart for the second time in a matter of days.
Paris Saint-Germain have pulled the plug on their move for the Parma goalkeeper, just as the paperwork was ready and the medical reportedly set to be scheduled. The Ligue 1 champions had lined up a €35m package, including add-ons, to sign the Japan international from Parma and then send him straight on loan to Juventus for the season.
That entire structure has now collapsed.
Juventus' Withdrawal
Juventus were the first to walk. Frustrated by delays and the conditions attached to the proposed loan, the Bianconeri recently stepped away and began exploring alternative goalkeeping options. The idea of taking Suzuki on a season-long loan from PSG, rather than dealing directly with Parma, no longer made sense on their timeline.
PSG's Final Stages
Even so, PSG pushed on with the permanent deal. The French club were, according to multiple reports, ready to exchange documents and move to the final stages. Then came the twist.
Transfer specialists Fabrice Hawkins and Fabrizio Romano both report that Suzuki’s agents made a late additional request just before completion. The demand angered PSG’s hierarchy enough for them to withdraw from negotiations entirely, ending talks on the spot and, at this stage, with no sign of reopening them.
Impact on Suzuki and Parma
For Suzuki, who has impressed with Parma in Serie A and for Japan on the international stage, it is another dramatic halt in a high-profile move. For Parma, it means their highly rated keeper remains on the books while a major sale vanishes overnight.
The collapse does reopen a small door in Turin. With PSG out of the picture, Juventus could, in theory, go straight to Parma and attempt to structure their own deal. The problem is the same as before: the cost. Matching or approaching the figures PSG had placed on the table will not be straightforward.
Two giants have now walked away from the same transfer in the space of a week. The next move belongs to Juventus — if they still want to make one.
