Real Madrid are moving to lock Arda Güler into their future for the long haul – and then some.

Spanish daily AS first reported on Thursday that talks over a new contract had taken a big step forward. A few hours later, transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano pushed it further: according to him, Madrid have now fully agreed all details with the 21-year-old’s camp.

The new deal is expected to run at least until 2031, with Romano even stating it will stretch to 2032. If that timeline holds, Güler joins an exclusive bracket inside the dressing room. Only summer signing Yan Diomande, who cost a hefty €125 million, is tied down longer, with a contract that runs until 2033.

For Güler, the impending signature is more than a line on a document. It’s a statement. A confirmation that the boy who arrived from Fenerbahce in 2023 has become a cornerstone of Real Madrid’s next era.

His original deal, signed when he joined from the Turkish giants in the summer of 2023, was due to expire in 2029. Back then, Madrid paid €28 million to bring him in – a sizeable outlay for a teenager, but one that now looks like a bargain of historic proportions.

Today, his market value is estimated at around €90 million. No other Turkish footballer comes close. He sits alone at the top of that ranking, the standard-bearer for his country and a symbol of Madrid’s recruitment vision paying off.

That leap in status is about to show up on his payslip as well. Güler has reportedly been earning around €5 million per year. The new agreement is expected to trigger a significant salary increase, aligning his wage with his influence on the pitch.

And that influence has grown steadily, not overnight. Last season, Güler worked his way into the team step by step, adding layers to his game and trust to his name. By the end of the campaign, he had recorded 20 goal involvements across 51 competitive matches, while forcing his way into the starting XI more and more often.

This season, under new head coach Jose Mourinho, he has picked up exactly where he left off – only louder.

Mourinho has handed him starts in three of the first four league fixtures. Each time, Güler has responded with a goal and an assist. Not flashes. Not cameos. Full-blooded contributions that tilt matches.

Only a suspension, carried over from a red card in last season’s Champions League, kept him out of the 2-1 win against Inter Milan. It took a ban, not a coach’s choice, to remove him from the European stage.

Real Madrid are reading those signs clearly. A 21-year-old left-footer, already the most valuable Turkish player on the planet, already decisive in white, now being tied down potentially until 2032.
