The 25-year-old midfielder completed a record-equalling deadline-day transfer from Chelsea to Manchester City, reuniting with coach Enzo Maresca. River Plate, his boyhood club, will benefit financially from this huge deal. According to reports from Argentine outlet Olé, River Plate is entitled to 3.37% of the total transfer fee under FIFA's solidarity contribution rules. That means approximately €4.92 million, which will be paid out in instalments tied to the agreement between the Premier League clubs.

This payout adds up to nearly €60 million that Fernandez has generated for River Plate since he left Argentina for Europe in 2022. The new funds almost cover the club’s expenses related to Lucas Beltran’s loan move.
