Rodri Arrives in Barcelona to Seal Manchester City Transfer

Rodri has landed at Barcelona's private terminal, ready to finalize his move from Manchester City. The Spain international is set to sign a long-term deal keeping him at the Catalan club until 2030.

The Transfer Journey

Barcelona faced challenges securing Rodri’s signature. Manchester City initially turned down two official offers from the Blaugrana before finally approving the transfer on Sunday afternoon. The contract with Barca will stretch over four years, reflecting the significance of the deal.

Throughout negotiations, Rodri favored Barcelona’s offer despite interest from other major clubs. His agent revealed that Real Madrid had proposed an irresistible deal, but Rodri wanted to join a team where he fits the playing style. He also dismissed attractive options from Paris Saint-Germain and other European clubs.

Rodri Shares His Thoughts on Arrival

Arriving with his family at El Prat airport’s private terminal, the midfielder spoke to media, showing relief and excitement. “Very happy to arrive. These have been intense days, but I’m happy everything has been resolved,” he said.

"Playing for Barca is a dream for me. I’m really looking forward to meeting my teammates, many of whom I already know from the national team. Now it’s time to work and give my best. Let’s go for the Champions League and everything that comes our way."

Next Steps: Medicals and Official Signing

Following his arrival, Rodri will head to his hotel and later meet Barcelona officials, including president Joan Laporta and sporting director Deco. This meeting will precede the official signing ceremony.

He is scheduled to undergo medical examinations at the club’s training facilities early the next day. If all goes well, the paperwork will be completed and the contract signed, likely allowing Rodri to be introduced as a Barcelona player by around 1 p.m.

Presentation and Debut Plans

Barcelona aims to present their new signing during the upcoming Joan Gamper Trophy match against Al Ahly on Wednesday, maximizing fan excitement. However, Rodri won’t debut in this game as he hasn’t trained with the squad yet.
