Ruben Amorim Plans Surprise Move for Manchester United Defender Leny Yoro Amid AC Milan's Late Transfer Push
AC Milan head coach Ruben Amorim is reportedly interested in signing Manchester United defender Leny Yoro before the summer transfer window closes. The Portuguese manager appears keen on reuniting with the young French talent, aiming to bolster his squad ahead of the new season.
Amorim’s Defensive Reinforcement Plans
According to Tuttosport, Amorim has been actively exploring the possibility of bringing Yoro to the San Siro. The new Rossoneri boss recently held an extensive five-hour meeting with club directors Hendrik Almstadt and Bobby Gardiner to finalize transfer targets before the deadline.
The 20-year-old defender has faced challenges since his £52 million move from Lille to Old Trafford two years ago. A serious ankle injury during his debut season limited his progress, and he has struggled to secure a regular starting spot under Michael Carrick.
Yoro’s Uncertain Standing at Manchester United
Yoro’s future at Manchester United looks unclear after he was an unused substitute in their opening day loss to Hull City and only made a brief appearance against Ipswich Town. Despite this, he has accumulated 67 appearances, scoring once and assisting three times during his time with the Red Devils.
His limited playing time this season might prompt him to consider a fresh start in Serie A, especially under a manager who values his potential.

Before the current campaign, Yoro expressed pride in representing United in European competitions. He told the club’s website, "All the players in the world want to play in this competition. I did the Conference League, Europa League, and now I’m going to play in the Champions League. So yeah, I think the step is very good. It’s a competition with the best players in the world."
He also shared how teammates had prepared him for the unique atmosphere of the Champions League: "The other lads have spoken about when you train with the Champions League ball and hear the music of the Champions League, it’s just a different atmosphere from the league. We play against different clubs from all over the world, so they have spoken to me about the atmosphere and the magic of this competition."
AC Milan’s Active Transfer Window
AC Milan have already spent over £128 million this summer, targeting key areas including an attacking midfielder, left-back (with Barcelona’s Alejandro Balde linked), and central defender. While Yoro hasn't publicly expressed a desire to leave the Premier League, interest from Milan could change that quickly.
