Sacha Boey Likely to Stay at Bayern Munich

Sacha Boey’s Bayern Munich exit is off the table for now, with sporting director Christoph Freund admitting the full-back is now likely to stay at the club.

Bayern had been prepared to move the 25-year-old on this summer, but no deal was completed before the German transfer window shut, leaving Boey still in Munich and his situation suddenly transformed.

“The probability is now greater that he'll stay here,” Freund told reporters on Friday, underlining a clear shift from the club’s original plan.

Boey, who joined Bayern amid high expectations, has endured a difficult start to life in Germany, yet Freund stressed that the defender has handled the uncertainty around his future with professionalism.

"He's always behaved in impeccable fashion. The plan was different, but this can happen in football," Freund said, acknowledging that the market simply never opened the door Bayern expected.

For Boey, the equation is now simple. Unless another league steps in before their window closes, he stays.

"When all transfer windows are closed and he's still here, then he'll remain a player in our squad," Freund concluded.

Bayern wanted a clean break. Instead, they may be about to discover whether an almost-departed defender can still carve out a role in their season.
