Serhou Guirassy Celebrates 100 Games for Dortmund

Serhou Guirassy needed a moment for it to sink in.

"I'm very, very happy to have played a hundred games for Dortmund – I didn't even realize that," said the 30-year-old forward, still processing the milestone that has arrived at full sprint rather than walking pace.

He only joined Borussia Dortmund from VfB Stuttgart in the summer of 2024. Just over two years on, he has already racked up 100 competitive appearances in black and yellow. That workload alone tells a story: a centre-forward who is always available, rarely injured, constantly trusted. Tough, durable, relentless.

The numbers behind it are just as striking. In the 3-2 home win over Villarreal CF, Guirassy struck twice, taking his tally to 63 and then 64 goals for BVB. Two finishes, two reminders of why he has become such a central figure so quickly. His accuracy in front of goal has turned tight matches, rescued points, and powered Dortmund through domestic and European nights alike.

Only one modern benchmark really exists for this kind of scoring burst in Dortmund colours: Erling Haaland. The Norwegian phenomenon plundered 86 goals in 89 competitive games for the club, a return that still looks almost unreal on paper. Guirassy is the only current Dortmund striker operating in that statistical neighbourhood.

History offers another comparison. Lothar Emmerich, a legend of the club’s early Bundesliga era, also hit 64 goals in his first 100 league matches for Borussia Dortmund. Guirassy has now matched that figure across his own century of appearances, placing his name alongside one of the greats of the club’s attacking tradition.

And in the Champions League, the bar is just as high. Among Dortmund players in the modern era, only Marco Reus stands ahead of Guirassy in terms of impact and output on Europe’s biggest stage. The captain’s legacy there is established; Guirassy is still building his, one ruthless finish at a time.
