Sparta Rotterdam Closing in on Isaac Babadi Loan from PSV

Sparta Rotterdam are closing in on the loan signing of Isaac Babadi from PSV, with the deal expected to be wrapped up on Deadline Day, according to Eindhovens Dagblad.

The 21-year-old midfielder has been on the fringes at the Philips Stadion and has struggled to force his way into Peter Bosz’s plans. PSV have therefore given the green light for him to leave on loan in search of regular minutes.

Fortuna Sittard were also in the race, as reported on Tuesday by Voetbal International, but Sparta have moved to the front of the queue and now look set to win the battle for his signature.

The agreement with PSV stands alone and is not linked to Ayoni Santos’ recent move from Sparta to the Eindhoven club. ED reports that Sparta will not take on Babadi’s full salary, but will cover part of his wages for the duration of the loan.

Babadi is tied to PSV until mid-2028 and has already made 35 official first-team appearances, scoring three goals and providing one assist. Yet his last outing for the PSV senior side dates back to May of last year.

That gap is partly explained by his loan spell at Royal Antwerp FC last season, where he featured 21 times in official matches. Now, with Sparta ready to offer him a fresh platform, the next phase of his development is about to run through Rotterdam.
