St Patrick's Athletic vs Bohemians: FAI Cup Quarter-Final Showdown

St Patrick's Athletic have been handed another Dublin derby in the Club Orange FAI Cup, drawn at home to Bohemians in a heavyweight quarter-final that instantly evokes last year’s showpiece.

The Saints, fresh from dumping holders Shamrock Rovers out of the competition last Sunday, now face the side they beat in the 2023 final. Same clubs, same stakes, but this time the prize is a semi-final spot and the right to keep dreaming of silverware.

Richmond Park will host the clash, and it promises edge. St Pat’s arrive with the confidence of having taken out the champions; Bohs carry the sting of that cup final defeat and the chance to flip the script on enemy territory.

Elsewhere, Derry City and Dundalk will collide at the Ryan McBride Brandywell Stadium, a tie that brings together two clubs with serious cup pedigree and a history of big knockout nights.

The other half of the draw drags the bottom end of the SSE Airtricity Men's Premier Division into the spotlight. Drogheda United will welcome Galway United, while a rejuvenated Waterford FC will host Sligo Rovers at the RSC, both ties offering struggling league sides a different route to glory.

All four quarter-finals are scheduled for the weekend of 4-6 September, with RTÉ Sport set to screen two of the games live.

The road to the Aviva is narrowing. For St Pat’s and Bohemians in particular, it already feels like another final.
