Tottenham Completes Loan Move for Mykhailo Mudryk
Tottenham Hotspur are on the brink of completing one of the most eye-catching moves of the window, with Mykhailo Mudryk set to join from Chelsea on loan with an option to buy worth around £75 million.
The deal, revealed by Fabrizio Romano on GIVEMESPORT’s Market Madness podcast, is expected to be wrapped up within hours, with Mudryk having already undergone his medical on Tuesday morning. Barring a late hitch, he will sign his Spurs contract on Tuesday afternoon.
From doping suspension to North London lifeline
Mudryk has not kicked a competitive ball for Chelsea since December 2024. His career stalled after a positive doping test led to a lengthy suspension and complete absence from first-team involvement at Stamford Bridge.
Those charges have now been dropped and the Ukrainian cleared to play again, but his Chelsea chapter is effectively over. Enzo Maresca has no place for him in his plans, and the winger has been deemed surplus to requirements as the new regime reshapes the squad.
Tottenham have moved quickly to exploit that gap. The agreement is for an initial loan, with Spurs covering his salary and paying a loan fee, and with a £75 million option to make the move permanent.
Romano summed it up bluntly on the podcast: “Yes, Mykhailo Mudryk will be a Tottenham player, he will sign his contract at Tottenham in the next two hours. Loan deal with an option to buy clause at £75million. He did his medical in the morning, so everything okay.”
Spurs rip up Plan A and B
Tottenham’s search for a left-sided attacker has run all summer. The plan was clear. The execution, less so.
Cody Gakpo sat at the top of their list, but Liverpool chose to keep the Dutchman. Attention then swung to Iliman Ndiaye, with a complex scenario on the table that could have seen Richarlison head back to Everton. That collapsed when Richarlison and Everton failed to reach an agreement on personal terms, and Ndiaye is now instead set for Manchester City.
Just as those negotiations frayed, Mudryk’s name suddenly shot to the forefront on Monday evening. A player who once commanded a huge fee and hype, now available on a structure Spurs could live with.
Romano described it as a “big change of plans” for Tottenham, who, after complications in other deals, “decided to go for the easiest option in Mykhailo Mudryk”.
What Spurs are getting
For Tottenham, this is a gamble with upside. A pure winger with explosive pace, Mudryk fits the profile Ange Postecoglou has been chasing for that left flank. New signing Savinho can play there, but the Brazilian is expected to operate mainly on the right, where Spurs are short of natural options.
Mudryk, at 25, arrives with both baggage and opportunity. A year without football at the highest level is no small hurdle. Match sharpness will not return overnight, and Spurs know they will have to manage his minutes carefully.
Even so, the structure of the deal suits them. If Mudryk rediscovers his form and confidence, the option to buy at £75 million is already locked in. If he doesn’t, they walk away at the end of the loan.
Debut on the horizon
Mudryk could make his first appearance in a Spurs shirt as soon as Saturday, when Tottenham travel to Nottingham Forest. The club will not rush him, but the temptation to unleash his pace from the bench will be strong.
