Transfer Updates: Daisuke Yokota Joins Rangers, Freddie Potts Leaves West Ham

Rangers are close to finalizing the signing of Hannover forward Daisuke Yokota. The Scottish club started their 2026-27 Premiership season with a 1-1 draw against Dundee United, a result that left much to be desired for manager Derek McInnes's squad.

According to German transfer expert Florian Plettenberg, Rangers have agreed on terms for the 26-year-old attacker. Yokota contributed nine goals and assists in 30 appearances in the Bundesliga 2 last season. The deal reportedly involves an initial fee of 3 million euros plus add-ons, along with a sell-on clause.

Yokota is expected to travel to Scotland on Tuesday, August 4, to undergo a medical and finalize a long-term contract with Rangers.

Freddie Potts Departs West Ham for Club Brugge

West Ham United will compete in the Championship for the first time in 15 years after finishing 18th in the Premier League. The club confirmed that midfielder Freddie Potts has left, transferring to Belgian champions Club Brugge for an undisclosed fee.

Potts, 22, joins a Club Brugge side preparing for European challenges next season, having qualified directly for the Champions League League Phase thanks to their 2025-26 league title. This guarantees them at least eight matches in UEFA’s top-tier competition.

West Ham’s summer exits continue, following significant sales like Matheus Fernandes to Tottenham Hotspur and Crysencio Summerville to Al-Hilal. Despite these departures, club captain Jarrod Bowen has committed his future to help West Ham’s fight in the Championship.

Sunderland Hold Firm on Wilson Isidor

Sunderland aim to strengthen their squad as they return to European football. They have been linked with striker Wilson Isidor, who impressed at the World Cup with Haiti, especially after a stunning long-range goal against Morocco on June 24.

Speculation suggested Sunderland might let Isidor leave this summer, but Sky Sports News reports the club has no plans to sell him to West Ham or any other team before the Premier League season begins. Manager Regis Le Bris views Isidor as key to Sunderland’s plans, particularly with the demands of balancing domestic and European fixtures.
