Valencia are pushing hard to pull off one of the more intriguing moves of the summer, with Liverpool’s Harvey Elliott emerging as their priority target to reshape the attack.
The Spanish club have put the 23-year-old playmaker at the top of their list after his status at Anfield collapsed under coach Andoni Iraola. Once central to Liverpool’s plans, Elliott now finds himself on the outside looking in – and ready to walk through the door Valencia are holding wide open.
According to journalist Matteo Moretto, talks between Valencia, Liverpool and the player are already under way, with all sides keen to move quickly. The framework is clear: a loan deal, and optimism that it can be tied up without a long saga. Reports indicate Elliott has already told Iraola he wants to leave Anfield for Mestalla, a direct message that has only accelerated negotiations.
Carlos Corberán has stepped in personally. As reported by Spanish newspaper “Marca”, the Valencia head coach picked up the phone and spoke directly to Elliott, outlining the project and his role in it. The response from the player has been positive. A fresh start in La Liga appeals, as does the idea of becoming a key creative force in a team built to run through him.
Expectations at Valencia
Inside Valencia, the expectations are high. Club chiefs see Elliott as the man to unlock packed defences, carry the ball through the lines and add goals from midfield. They want someone who can change the rhythm of games, not just keep the ball moving. Elliott, at his best, fits that profile.
His career, though, has hit a stutter. Last season’s loan at Aston Villa never really took off. He made only nine appearances in all competitions, stuck on the fringes of Unai Emery’s side. The clearest signal came in Liverpool’s latest squad against Newcastle, where his name was missing entirely. No explanation was needed.
