Valencia Negotiates Loan for Harvey Elliott from Liverpool
Valencia are in talks with Liverpool over a loan move for midfielder Harvey Elliott until the end of the season, as the Spanish club push to add creativity without breaking their budget.
The 23-year-old spent last season on loan at Aston Villa but started just one Premier League game, a frustrating return for a player looking to turn promise into consistency at the top level.
Valencia, who finished ninth in La Liga last season and missed out on European football, have been exploring ways to structure the deal so it fits within their financial limits. Central to the negotiations is salary coverage, with the Spanish side asking Liverpool to pay half of Elliott’s wages to make the move viable.
Elliott was heavily involved in Liverpool’s pre-season under new head coach Andoni Iraola and looked well placed to stake a claim. Since the competitive action started, though, he has been left out of the club’s first two Premier League squads, a clear signal that minutes may be hard to come by at Anfield in the short term.
With La Liga’s transfer window closing on Tuesday at 23:00 BST, Valencia’s pursuit is now racing the clock.
