Victor Osimhen's Future: Arsenal Links and Galatasaray Commitment
Victor Osimhen kept his cards close to his chest, but he didn’t exactly slam the door shut on Arsenal.
Pushed on growing links with a move to north London after Galatasaray’s latest outing, the Nigeria striker chose his words carefully, refusing to fuel the fire while leaving just enough room for intrigue.
"There are always rumours during the transfer windows. I’ll focus on my job. I’m focused on my work. We’ll see and think about what comes next then," he said, batting away the speculation without denying anything outright.
Arsenal interest lingers in the background
The uncertainty around his long-term future has only intensified in recent days. Arsenal are understood to have explored the possibility of bringing Osimhen to the Emirates during talks over deals for Gabriel Martinelli and teenage talent Ethan Nwaneri.
For now, though, the 27-year-old remains tied to Galatasaray. His contract at Rams Park runs until June 2029, a powerful piece of leverage for the Istanbul giants as the window ticks towards its deadline.
Osimhen, at least in public, is still speaking like a man prepared to dig in for the fight ahead.
"It’s going to be a tough season. The team is aware of that. I’m ready to give everything for this club. This was an important wake-up call. It was a wake-up call for the players too," he insisted, framing the early stumbles as a jolt Galatasaray needed.
Demand for a response
If there was any doubt about where his focus lies in the short term, his message to the dressing room and the stands made it clear he expects a reaction — immediately.
"We have to give everything on the pitch. Our fans give us incredible energy, they always support us. We need to reciprocate," he said, underlining the obligation to match the intensity coming from the terraces.
Then came the reminder of what’s looming on the horizon.
"We need to gain momentum before the Champions League. We need to fight very well from the very first match."
That is the real countdown for Okan Buruk. Galatasaray’s domestic campaign has spluttered rather than roared into life, and the defensive frailties are obvious. They need work at the back before next weekend’s league fixture if they want any sort of platform to build from.
Buruk will demand far greater cohesion before the Champions League league phase begins. The structure has to tighten, the lines have to move together, and the lapses that have crept in must be cut out quickly.
