Vincent Kompany Backs Sacha Boey at Bayern Munich

Vincent Kompany has drawn a line under Sacha Boey’s uncertain summer and thrown his weight behind the French full-back’s future at Bayern Munich.

Bayern spent the window trying to move Boey on, listening to offers and hoping a deal would materialise. None did. The deadline passed, the door shut, and Boey stayed.

Now, Kompany insists, that reality is non-negotiable.

“Now the transfer window is closed, and Sacha is part of our team and has our support,” the Bayern coach said at his press conference. The message was firm: the speculation is over, the work starts here.

That doesn’t mean the path is clear. Far from it.

“My role now is that he performs. But the reality is we have Josip Stanišić and Konrad Laimer in the position, and competition is already fierce,” Kompany underlined.

It’s a blunt assessment of Boey’s situation. Two players are already ahead of him in a role Bayern consider well stocked. Minutes will have to be earned, not handed out.

So the coach went back to basics.

“You need patience and hard work. But anything can happen in football if you have the right attitude,” he said, pointing directly at the mentality Boey will need if he wants to relaunch his Bayern career rather than drift on the fringes.

For now, Kompany is keeping it simple: respect and performance.

“We're simply treating him with respect. He's training very well at the moment, and everything else will fall into place,” he added.

Behind all this sits a club structure that has not hidden its intentions from players this summer. Boey is not the first to learn he was on the market, and he will not be the last.

Kompany lifted the lid slightly on how Bayern’s hierarchy, led by Max Eberl and Christoph Freund, handle those uncomfortable conversations.

“What I've seen working with Max Eberl and Christoph Freund is that the club is clear and straightforward; also in dealings with players,” he explained. “It's not always pleasant for the player, but you also gain a lot of respect from the players when you speak to them clearly and honestly.”

For Boey, that clarity cuts both ways. He knows exactly where he stands. Bayern know exactly what they expect. The rest will be decided on the training pitch and, if he can force his way in, under the floodlights.
