Alex Scott wants Chelsea. That much is clear.

Bournemouth have made their stance plain: the 22-year-old is not for sale. The south-coast club are trying to anchor their playmaker to a new contract after a standout campaign under Andoni Iraola, who has since departed to take over at Liverpool. Scott, though, has no intention of signing fresh terms.
Contract stand-off
Bournemouth first put a new deal on the table in March, confident at the time that Scott could be persuaded to commit his long-term future to the club. That optimism has faded. Talks have slowed, momentum has drained away, and Chelsea have stepped into the gap.
Scott, formerly of Bristol City, played a central role in Bournemouth’s impressive season as they surged into the Europa League places. His form has sharpened interest at the top of the Premier League and beyond, and it has hardened his own view that this summer is the right moment to move.
Chelsea, sensing an opportunity, are accelerating their pursuit in an effort to fend off rivals and force a breakthrough in negotiations.
Big clubs circling
Arsenal and Manchester City have both been credited with an interest in Scott, but neither have made a formal approach. For now, Chelsea are the only club at the table with a concrete bid, even if Bournemouth have already sent their first offer back.
Scott’s rise has not gone unnoticed at international level. He missed out on England’s World Cup squad but was called up to train with the senior group before the tournament, a clear sign of how highly he is rated inside the national setup.
He is regarded as one of the leading candidates to refresh Thomas Tuchel’s squad after their painful semi-final exit to Argentina, with Chelsea intent on reshaping the midfield for the next cycle.
Chelsea’s midfield reshuffle
That rebuild is being driven in part by uncertainty over Enzo Fernandez. The Argentina midfielder has made clear he wants to leave, and Chelsea have responded by slapping a £120m price tag on him. Head coach Alonso has stated he wants to keep the 25-year-old, but Real Madrid have already ruled out a move for the former Benfica man, casting doubt over whether any club will be willing — or able — to meet Chelsea’s valuation.
Against that backdrop, Scott looks less like a luxury and more like a necessity for the Blues.
For Bournemouth, the equation is different. Europa League football, a young core, and a fanbase finally looking up the table rather than down: losing Scott now would cut right into the heart of that project.
The midfielder’s stance is firm, though. He wants Chelsea. Bournemouth say no.
