Tyson Fury Plans to Invite Donald Trump for Anthony Joshua Fight

Tyson Fury is famous for turning his fights into grand spectacles well before the first punch lands. His entrances are elaborate, often packed with fireworks and music to hype up fans both in the arena and watching from home.

The heavyweight champion looks set to bring that same energy to his highly anticipated bout against fellow Brit and former unified heavyweight king Anthony Joshua. The fight will take place on December 11th at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales.

This time, though, Fury might stir some controversy by involving none other than the former President of the United States, Donald Trump, in his ring walk. It’s a bold move, even for someone as outspoken as Fury.

The Long-Awaited Fury vs Joshua Fight Is Finally Set

After years of delays caused by disagreements between fighters and promoters, plus some ill-timed losses, the superfight between Fury and Joshua looks like it will finally go ahead on UK soil. Fury has never hidden his desire to secure the biggest payday possible, sometimes risking the fight itself if the money isn’t right.

He was eager when rumors linked the fight to Madison Square Garden in New York, knowing such a venue would guarantee a huge paycheck. But Joshua and promoter Eddie Hearn insisted the fight had to be in the UK or not at all, with Joshua even agreeing to a significant pay cut for it to happen at home.

The choice landed on the near 74,000-capacity Principality Stadium in Cardiff.

Regardless of location, Fury is known for creating unforgettable atmospheres with his ring walks. In his 2020 rematch with Deontay Wilder at MGM Grand, where he handed Wilder his first defeat and won the WBC title, Fury made an entrance wearing a crown and sitting on a throne. In their trilogy fight the next year, he appeared as a Spartan warrior while AC/DC's "You Shook Me All Night Long" played.

His defense of the WBC belt against Dillian Whyte at Wembley Stadium in 2022 saw him mix "American Pie," "Jerusalem," and "Your Sex Is On Fire" with attire inspired by the English flag. Against Oleksandr Usyk, Fury picked "Holding Out For A Hero" in May 2024 and started his December rematch with "All I Want For Christmas Is You." These showy entrances have become his trademark.

Trump's Possible Role in the December Fight

For the clash with Joshua, Fury wants to up the ante again. This time, he’s hinted at asking Donald Trump to join him during his ring walk. Fury said,

"I'll definitely make that offer to my old buddy, and we'll see if he's available. It's probably unlikely because of the situation he's in at the moment, being the President of the United States."

Fury recognizes that Trump’s current focus on the upcoming mid-term elections and ongoing global conflicts makes it improbable he’ll attend, especially now that the fight won't be held in the U.S. Still, the idea of Trump appearing ringside adds an unusual twist to what promises to be one of the biggest fights in British boxing history.
