Alonso and Arbeloa Make Premier League Coaching Debuts
Two familiar faces from the Bernabéu step into very different dugouts tonight. Craven Cottage, under the west London floodlights, becomes the stage for Alvaro Arbeloa and Xabi Alonso to make their Premier League bow as head coaches.
Both Spaniards arrive with Real Madrid on their recent CVs. Now they stand opposite each other on the Thames, Arbeloa in Fulham’s black and white, Alonso in Chelsea blue, kick-off at 20:00 BST.
The romance of the touchline battle is clear enough: former team-mates, now rivals, starting their English stories on the same strip of grass.

Moises Caicedo and Marco Palestra, widely expected to start, are missing from the XI and from the opening act of his tenure. The word is their absence is precautionary rather than alarming, but it still forces an early reshuffle.
