Arsenal head back into Europe with scars, not doubts.

Now the climb starts again. Naples on Wednesday night. A new campaign, same expectation.
Arteta ready to rotate his arsenal

Defensive reshuffle on the cards

William Saliba remains out with a long-term back injury, a void that would weaken almost any side in Europe. Jurrien Timber has yet to play a minute this season but edges closer to a return, a reminder that Arsenal’s defensive ceiling is still higher than what we’ve seen. For now, though, he remains an option for later, not for Naples.
Cristhian Mosquera is a doubt with a muscle problem, which tightens Arteta’s choices even more. It points towards Ezri Konsa continuing alongside Gabriel, just as he did in the win over Chelsea on Sunday. That partnership brought control and composure at the weekend; Arteta will want the same again in a far more hostile setting.
If there is to be a tweak, it is most likely at left-back. Riccardo Calafiori has been outstanding in the early weeks of the season, a revelation whenever he has been fit. But that last word is the concern. His Arsenal career has already been interrupted by injuries, and the staff will be wary of overloading him.
That is where Piero Hincapie comes in. He was the only defender on the bench against Chelsea, a clear indication of how stretched the options are. Just as important, it underlines how trusted he is. There is every chance he moves from understudy to starter in Naples, giving Calafiori a breather and Arsenal a slightly different profile on the left.
A new run, same ambition
Arsenal arrive in Italy with the memory of Budapest still fresh enough to sting. They know they can dominate a league phase. They know they can go toe-to-toe with Europe’s elite. The question now is whether those lessons, and a squad built to rotate without losing quality, can carry them one step further.
