Arsenal and Manchester United Lead Transfer Fever in Premier League

The World Cup is edging towards its climax, but the club game is already in full transfer fever. Across England’s elite, plans for next season are being written in bold, expensive ink.

Arsenal clear the decks for a new forward line

Arsenal are moving like a club that knows the window cannot be wasted.

Leandro Trossard is on his way to Besiktas, a deal agreed and a medical looming. That exit does more than trim the wage bill; it opens a lane for fresh firepower. Christos Tzolis is the name being pushed to the front of the queue.

The Gunners want the Club Brugge winger back in England after his earlier spell at Norwich. BBC Sport report that Arsenal, working closely with sporting director Andrea Berta, are ready to accelerate talks, with Tzolis thought to be available at around £30m. Crucially, that move is being framed as an addition, not a substitute, for a bigger headline act.

Because the real marquee pursuit has not gone away.

Julian Alvarez remains the obsession in north London. Fresh contact has been made with Atletico Madrid over the former Manchester City striker, now leading the line for Argentina and set to face England in the World Cup semi-finals. Italian journalist Luca Bendoni reports that the clubs are still apart on valuation, but the dialogue is alive.

On top of that, Arsenal’s interest in Morgan Rogers, Bruno Guimaraes and highly rated youngster Andria Bartishvili has not cooled. It is a full attacking reshuffle in slow motion, with one big swing still to land.

United rip up their midfield and start again

At Old Trafford, the rebuild in the middle of the pitch is gathering pace.

Manchester United have already delivered two new midfielders this week. Youri Tielemans has signed from Aston Villa in a £35m deal, the 29-year-old agreeing a five-year contract after United triggered a release clause. Andrey Santos has also arrived, while goalkeeper Karl Darlow has been added to the squad.

One deal has slipped away. United walked away from a move for Atalanta’s Ederson, who has since been offered a new contract in Bergamo. The message from United is clear: they will not be dragged into auctions at any price.

The next target is Manu Kone.

The France international, who impressed at the World Cup before a poor semi-final showing against Spain, is now central to United’s plans to complete their midfield overhaul. Corriere dello Sport report that United are pushing, but the path is anything but clear. Liverpool are in the race. Atletico Madrid are watching. Roma, Kone’s club, need to sell. The battle lines are drawn between two of English football’s fiercest rivals, with a continental giant hovering in the background.

Liverpool reshaping life after Salah

On Merseyside, Liverpool are quietly constructing a new forward unit for the Andoni Iraola era.

Victor Munoz has already arrived from Osasuna to bolster the flanks. The looming question, though, is how Liverpool prepare for a future without Mohamed Salah. The answer may be Bradley Barcola.

TEAMtalk report that Liverpool have held fresh talks with Paris Saint-Germain over the 23-year-old Frenchman, who has emerged as a key target. Arsenal have been linked, but Liverpool have now moved to the front of the queue, making new contact over a deal.

The dynamic is clear. PSG are keen to offload Barcola. The player, for his part, is understood to be open to a move to Merseyside. With United also circling Kone, the two old rivals could end up trading blows on multiple fronts before the window closes.

Chelsea’s left-back hunt hits resistance

Chelsea’s summer has a familiar feel: a long chase for a full-back, a stubborn selling club, and a Plan B already in motion.

The departure of Marc Cucurella to Real Madrid for £51.7m has left a sizeable gap at left-back. Pep Chavarria of Rayo Vallecano has been the preferred solution, and Chelsea have pushed hard in recent weeks. Rayo, surprise Conference League finalists, have proved awkward negotiators, with no agreement on a fee.

So the focus has swung to Alvaro Carreras.

Catalan outlet Sport report that Chelsea have made an initial approach to Real Madrid for the former Manchester United defender, following it up with an offer in the region of £21.3m. Madrid, though, value him at around £42.6m. The gap is wide. Chelsea must decide whether to hold their nerve on price or walk away from another negotiation that threatens to drag.

Tottenham weigh their options, others circle

Tottenham, as ever, are keeping several plates spinning at once.

A move for Francisco Trincao is under consideration, with Eli Junior Kroupi and Andreas Schjelderup also on the radar as they look to add creativity and youth to the front line. The flip side of that ambition is the potential exit door: Cristian Romero and Djed Spence are both candidates to leave if the right offers arrive.

On the flanks, Spurs have joined the hunt for Neco Williams. The Nottingham Forest full-back, formerly of Liverpool, has already drawn interest from Manchester United and Newcastle. Now, according to Teamtalk, Tottenham have entered the race, adding another twist to an already crowded pursuit.

Around the market: Camavinga, Silva and quiet defiance in Madrid

Not every big name is on the move.

Eduardo Camavinga, linked repeatedly with a departure from Real Madrid, remains determined to stay at the Bernabeu, according to The Athletic. His situation will be watched closely as Jose Mourinho’s reign begins, but for now the midfielder is standing firm.

Elsewhere, Bournemouth have been offered Antonio Silva, report A Bola. The Benfica defender has previously been linked with Real Madrid and Manchester United, yet it is the Dorset club who have been presented with the chance to strike. It would be a statement signing if they chose to take it.

The window is not yet at full boil. But the outlines are clear: Arsenal are gearing up for a major attacking reset, United are tearing down and rebuilding their midfield, Liverpool are bracing for life after Salah, Chelsea are locked in another left-back saga, and Spurs are sniffing around opportunity.

The only question now is who blinks first when the real money hits the table.
