Arsenal Sign Bruno Guimarães in £75m Deal from Newcastle
Arsenal have made their biggest move of the summer – and one of the most ruthless of the Premier League era – by prising Bruno Guimarães away from Newcastle United in a £75m deal.
The 28-year-old Brazil international has signed a four-year contract at Emirates Stadium, with an option for a further 12 months, joining the reigning Premier League champions at the peak of his powers.
For Arsenal, this is a signing that screams ambition. For Newcastle, it is the end of an emotional chapter.
A captain walks away
Guimarães leaves Tyneside not as just another high-profile departure, but as the heartbeat of a project he helped drag from relegation fear to trophy-winning respectability.

Newcastle, for their part, kept it dignified, wishing Guimarães and his family well as he left their training camp in La Manga earlier this week to complete the formalities in London.

Rice, who has shared some fierce battles with Guimarães in the centre of the pitch, sent a line that summed up the shift in dynamic: “Come here and please no more fights, now we’re friends.”
Those duels are now training-ground fare. For Premier League opponents, that is a frightening thought. Arsenal, already boasting Rice’s authority and passing range, have added another elite controller with bite, vision and a taste for big occasions.
“I’m at the point of my life, I think I need a challenge like this,” Guimarães said. “I want to win trophies, I want to make history and I think I’m in the right place to do it. I’m so excited to start.”
