Arsenal's Unchanged XI: Arteta Trusts His Key Players Against West Ham

Mikel Arteta doubles down. Same stadium, same stakes, same team.

For the third game in a row, Arsenal’s manager has refused to touch a winning formula, naming an unchanged XI for the trip to West Ham United in their penultimate away game of the Premier League season.

Arteta backs his big-game lieutenants

Bukayo Saka, fresh from delivering the decisive blow against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League on Tuesday, goes again on the right. No rotation, no caution. Arsenal are still chasing prizes, and Saka remains central to that push.

Myles Lewis-Skelly keeps his place in midfield after catching the eye in the victories over Fulham and Atletico. The teenager lines up once more alongside Declan Rice, who returns to the London Stadium as an established leader of this Arsenal side, having already scored against his former club in the reverse fixture earlier in the campaign.

Behind them, the defensive unit stays untouched. Ben White, William Saliba, Gabriel and Riccardo Calafiori form the back four in front of David Raya, who has his own subplot: another clean sheet would move him clear in the race for the Premier League Golden Glove.

Up front, Viktor Gyokeres leads the line again, hunting goal number 22 of a prolific season. Leandro Trossard and Saka flank him, with Eberechi Eze operating in support, giving Arsenal a fluid, unpredictable front four.

On the bench, Arteta has heavyweight options if the game tightens: Martin Odegaard, Gabriel Martinelli and Kai Havertz are all held in reserve, along with Noni Madueke and Mikel Merino Zubimendi. Kepa Arrizabalaga provides cover in goal, with defensive reinforcements in Jurrien Mosquera and Piero Hincapie, and young talent Ethan Dowman completing the squad.

Rice returns, West Ham reshape

For West Ham, the narrative starts with Rice but doesn’t end there. The hosts look to spoil their former captain’s night with a robust, athletic side.

Mads Hermansen starts in goal, protected by a back line of Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Konstantinos Mavropanos, Jean-Clair Todibo and Axel Disasi. That quartet suggests a physical, front-foot approach to dealing with Arsenal’s movement.

In midfield, the Hammers turn to a blend of power and energy: Diouf and Tomas Soucek anchor the centre, with Fernandes adding legs and drive. Out wide, Jarrod Bowen and Summerville offer pace and direct running, aiming to stretch Arsenal in transition. Taty Castellanos leads the line, tasked with unsettling Saliba and Gabriel and making every ball into the box count.

The bench gives West Ham options to change the tone of the game. Alphonse Areola, Kyle Walker-Peters, Kilman, Scarles, Potts and Magassa offer defensive and structural tweaks, while N’Golo Kante, Pablo and Wilson can alter the rhythm in midfield and attack.

Same XI. Same trust. With the season narrowing to its sharpest point, Arteta has made his stance clear: the players who carried Arsenal here will be the ones asked to finish the job.
