Barcelona's Héctor Fort Transfer Negotiations: Dortmund vs Real Sociedad

Barcelona’s plan to move Héctor Fort on is edging towards a resolution, but what looked like a simple exit route to Borussia Dortmund has turned into a far more tangled negotiation.

For days, Dortmund seemed to be closing in. The Bundesliga club had done the groundwork, spoken to Barça, and positioned themselves as the obvious destination for the young full-back. The path looked clear.

Then Real Sociedad walked in.

Dortmund still in front – but at a price

According to the latest from Matteo Moretto (via FCB World), Dortmund remain in pole position to strike a deal with Barcelona. They are still the club closest to matching the conditions laid out at the Camp Nou.

And those conditions are now crystal clear.

Barcelona want €20 million for 100% of Fort’s rights. A straight sale, no strings attached.

There is another route on the table. The Catalan club are also willing to negotiate a deal worth between €8 million and €10 million in exchange for 50% of the player’s rights, keeping a stake in his future. Any club that hits one of those formulas can move to the front of the queue for Fort.

Real Sociedad change the landscape

Earlier in the window, Dortmund’s pursuit looked almost uncontested. They had emerged as the most likely landing spot, talks were advancing, and a conclusion felt close.

Real Sociedad’s late move has disrupted that rhythm.

The Basque side have been gathering detailed information on the terms of a potential transfer and on how Barcelona intend to structure Fort’s departure. They have not matched Dortmund’s momentum yet, but they have added real weight to the race and forced Barça to define their stance more sharply.

That stance has shifted from the early noise. Initial reports suggested Barcelona valued Fort at around €10 million. Moretto’s latest update goes further, outlining not just the price but the preferred structure: either a full sale at €20 million or a shared-ownership style deal at €8–10 million for 50% of his rights.

The framework is set. Dortmund are still leading, Real Sociedad are lurking, and Barcelona have drawn their financial line. Now the question is simple: who is ready to pay for Héctor Fort’s present – and who is willing to bet on his future?
