Barcelona Sign Karim Adeyemi as Hansi Flick Reshapes Attack

Barcelona have moved again in the market, completing the signing of German forward Karim Adeyemi from Borussia Dortmund in a deal that underlines Hansi Flick’s imprint on the squad.

The agreement is worth an initial €22 million, with a further €7m tied to performance-related add-ons. Dortmund have also secured a percentage of any future profit should Barça sell the player on, a nod to both his age and perceived upside.

At 24, Adeyemi arrives after four seasons in Dortmund colours, where he scored 36 goals in 146 appearances following his move from RB Salzburg in 2022. The numbers are solid rather than spectacular, but his appeal for Barcelona goes beyond the stat sheet.

Flick knows exactly what he is getting. He handed Adeyemi his Germany debut during his time in charge of the national team and pushed hard for this move once he took over at Camp Nou. This is not a speculative signing. It is a coach choosing a profile he trusts.

Adeyemi brings pace and flexibility to an attack that is being aggressively rebuilt. Comfortable across the front three, he can play off either flank or through the middle, stretching defences and attacking space in behind — a useful foil for Barça’s more technical wide options.

His arrival follows the headline €70m capture of England winger Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United, another direct, high-intensity forward added to a squad that already boasts Lamine Yamal, Raphinha and Ferran Torres. The message is clear: Barcelona want speed, pressing, and constant movement in the final third.

Even with Adeyemi and Gordon through the door, the work up front is not finished. Sources have indicated that Barcelona remain in the market for a specialist No. 9, a central reference point to anchor this new-look attack.
