Barcelona Expands Striker Search Amidst Álvarez Negotiations

Barcelona’s hunt for a new No.9 has taken another twist, with the Spanish champions sounding out a move for Bournemouth forward Eli Junior Kroupi while keeping Julián Álvarez at the top of their wishlist, a source told ESPN.

Hansi Flick has already overseen a major reshaping of his forward line. Anthony Gordon is in from Newcastle United, Karim Adeyemi has arrived from Borussia Dortmund, and Robert Lewandowski has departed for MLS side Chicago Fire. Marcus Rashford’s loan is over and he has gone back to Manchester United. One era has closed; the next one is still being assembled.

Priority on Álvarez

Álvarez remains the priority. President Joan Laporta has publicly confirmed that Barça tabled an offer for the Atlético Madrid striker, who told ESPN in June that he wants to leave the club. Atlético rejected the bid. The proposal, Laporta insisted, will stay on the table if the Madrid side soften their stance, but Barcelona will not wait forever.

Kroupi's Rise
