Benjamin Sesko's Goal Marks Injury Return Despite Late Collapse
Benjamin Sesko marked his return from injury with a goal – and walked off the pitch furious.
His strike looked set to decide the contest, a sharp reminder of what the 23-year-old brings after a disrupted pre-season. Instead, a last-minute collapse cost his side all three points and turned his comeback story sour.
“We're very disappointed of course because we were very close [to winning] and yet so far,” he told MUTV, the frustration clear. “To concede a goal like that in the last minute, it's painful for everyone because everyone was giving everything to try and win the game. Every single person here wants that. In the moments like this where a last shot decides it, it's very painful.”
The goal itself mattered. After weeks of fitness problems that wrecked most of his preparations, Sesko needed a moment like this: a clean finish, a reminder of rhythm and instinct. For a striker, confidence often returns in a single touch.
He knows it too.
“For me, it's the best feeling when I'm scoring, especially for the club like that,” he said. “When I can provide the goals and the points for the team – it's my job at the end of the day.”
That job felt only half-done. The net rippled, the crowd reacted, but the late equaliser wiped away the result he craved. What remained was a personal milestone wrapped in collective disappointment.
Still, Sesko refused to dwell in it for long.
“It's nice to be back with the team to experience all the games again. Of course I wish today that we had won, but we can't change that,” he admitted, already looking ahead rather than back.
The message from the forward was clear: use the hurt, not hide from it.
“It's really important to take everything as positive even when it's not the best option from today,” he added. “To see the game in a good light, to try and improve and focus for the next game.”
His return has started with a goal. The next question is whether his team can match his response when the pressure comes again in the final minute.
