Borussia Dortmund Eye PSG's Young Star Ibrahim Mbaye
Borussia Dortmund have set their sights on one of Paris Saint-Germain’s brightest young forwards, opening talks over a potential move for Ibrahim Mbaye, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Bundesliga club, still intent on sharpening their cutting edge in the final third, have made contact to explore the 18-year-old winger’s situation at PSG. It is an early move, a probing call rather than a full-scale bid, but it underlines how highly Mbaye is rated across Europe.
Dortmund know this market well. They have built a reputation on identifying young attacking talent before it explodes and giving it a stage big enough to accelerate that rise. Mbaye fits that profile neatly: quick, direct, and already trusted enough to feature regularly for a star-studded PSG side.
The teenager has already made 42 appearances for the French champions, contributing four goals and four assists. Those numbers do not yet scream superstardom, but context matters. Breaking into a squad packed with established internationals at 18 is a statement in itself, and clubs are paying attention.
So are those in England. Mbaye has also been linked with a move to the Premier League, with Aston Villa among the clubs credited with interest. Villa’s recruitment in recent windows has leaned heavily toward dynamic, high-upside attacking players, and Mbaye fits the same mould they have targeted under ambitious ownership.
The tug of war, if it develops, will not be straightforward. Mbaye is under contract at PSG until 2028, giving the French club a strong hand at the negotiating table and plenty of time to decide whether he is part of their long-term project or an asset to be cashed in at the right price.
For now, the lines are open, the interest is real, and a familiar question hangs in the air: will another of Europe’s most coveted teenagers choose Dortmund’s proven pathway, or test himself in the Premier League’s relentless spotlight?
