Bournemouth Withdraws Jimenez from Fulham Match Amid Social Media Allegations

AFC Bournemouth have removed right-back Alex Jimenez from their squad to face Fulham after screenshots emerged on social media allegedly showing the defender communicating with a teenage girl.

The images began circulating on Friday night. They reportedly show the Spain Under-21 international exchanging messages with a minor before sending a selfie from inside his car, accompanied by a suggestive caption. The posts spread quickly, forcing Bournemouth into an immediate response on the eve of a key Premier League fixture at Craven Cottage.

By Saturday, the club had acted. Jimenez, 21, was withdrawn from contention for the game while Bournemouth launched an internal investigation.

In a statement, the club said: “AFC Bournemouth are aware of posts circulating on social media involving right-back, Alex Jimenez. The club understand the seriousness of the matter and it is currently being investigated. As a result, Alex will not be included in the squad for tomorrow’s Premier League game against Fulham and the club will be making no further comment at this time.”

No further details have been provided, and Bournemouth have not indicated how long Jimenez could remain unavailable as the process unfolds.

Impact on the Team

For Andoni Iraola, the timing could hardly be worse. His side are in the middle of a landmark season, chasing what would be a first-ever European qualification, and Jimenez has grown into a central figure of that push.

The defender, who joined from AC Milan on loan last September in a deal that carried a £15 million obligation to buy, has already seen that clause triggered this year. He has justified the club’s faith with 32 appearances in all competitions, including a standout moment in January when he scored in a 3-2 win over Liverpool.

That consistency has given Bournemouth balance and drive down the right flank. Now Iraola must reshuffle without one of his most used players, as the club’s off-field investigation takes priority over on-pitch plans.
