Brown Men's Soccer Triumphs with Amaral's Late Goal
PROVIDENCE, R.I. — With the clock draining and frustration building, Brown turned again to the man who has already made a habit of deciding games.

The junior forward struck the winner in the 86th minute on Saturday night, lifting Brown men’s soccer to a 1-0 victory over Saint Peter’s at Stevenson-Pincince Field and pushing the Bears to 2-1 on the season and a perfect 2-0 at home.
Amaral breaks the deadlock
After 85 minutes of near-misses and half-chances, the breakthrough finally came. Amaral, who had been a constant threat all evening, finished off a move created by Carlo Brown and Alex Sauerbrei to net his second goal of the year and the only one Brown needed.
It was a fitting reward. Amaral finished with a game-high six shots, five of them coming in a first half where he seemed to be playing at a different tempo than everyone else.
Saint Peter’s, now 2-2-1, had bent but not broken for most of the night. Brown outshot the Peacocks 12-7, yet the visitors stayed in it behind steady work from goalkeeper Sebastian Heredia-Randen, who repeatedly denied the Bears as they pushed for a winner.
Kois steady in first start
On the other end, it was a quietly important night for Brown goalkeeper Graham Kois. Making his first-ever start for the Bears, Kois needed just two saves, but he handled his work cleanly and kept Saint Peter’s from finding any rhythm in front of goal.
The first 45 minutes ended scoreless, but Brown controlled the tempo. The Bears held a 6-3 edge in shots before halftime, Amaral alone accounting for five as he tested the back line and looked to stretch the game.
The pattern held after the break. Brown kept coming.
Midway through the second half, Mateo Pereyra forced Heredia-Randen into a sharp stop, winning a corner and cranking up the pressure on the visitors. From that set piece, James Snaith drilled a low effort from the top of the 18-yard box, only for Heredia-Randen to turn it aside again.
The message was clear: Saint Peter’s could only hang on for so long.
Home form building
When Amaral finally broke through in the 86th minute, it felt like the inevitable payoff to a night of sustained pressure rather than a smash-and-grab winner. Brown’s control, the shot totals, the territorial dominance — it all led to that moment.
The Bears walked off with a one-goal margin and something more important: early-season belief, especially on their own field.
