Burnley’s winless run under Nicky Hayen stretched to seven Championship games as individual errors again proved costly in a 3-1 defeat at Swansea City.

“It’s a really disappointing afternoon,” Hayen admitted. “We actually started quite well. We were equal to Swansea, but then we made individual mistakes in the first half – then you are 2-0 down.
“We created opportunities. We had as many chances and their goalkeeper had to make more saves than ours, but at the end of the first half it is 2-0.
“We tried to change the game and we came out with good energy. We feel like we have the momentum but then, like in previous weeks, we give the momentum away.
“Then they score a third one and you knew it would be really difficult. We were not efficient enough.”
The table underlines the damage. Burnley sit bottom of the Championship, still searching for a first league win under their new manager, and running out of time to call this just a slow start rather than something far more serious.
