Camilo Duran's Double Leads Celtic to Victory Against Falkirk

Camilo Duran offered Celtic exactly what they needed after their European setback – goals, and plenty of intent – as his first-half double earned a 2-1 win over Falkirk.

Given the central striking role in place of the injured Kasper Hogh, the Colombian wasted no time justifying the call. Leading the line as an out-and-out centre-forward, he struck twice inside 29 minutes, both finishes straight from a striker’s manual, and spent the rest of the half tormenting Falkirk’s back line.

Duran’s movement dragged defenders all over the final third, opening lanes for his team-mates and teeing up several chances that Celtic simply failed to convert. The hosts carved Falkirk open repeatedly before the interval but lacked the ruthlessness to turn dominance into a comfortable scoreline.

That wastefulness kept the visitors alive, and the mood shifted after the break. Falkirk stepped up the pitch, pressed Celtic higher, and refused to let them stroll through midfield. The game, once one-way traffic, suddenly felt tight.

The pressure finally told on 72 minutes. Colby Donovan, under strain inside his own box, turned the ball into his own net to hand Falkirk a lifeline and inject tension into a match Celtic had seemed to control.

Stung, the home side responded by pinning Falkirk back for the remainder of the contest, waves of green and white forcing the visitors deep. Chances came, territory was won, but the third Celtic goal never arrived.

Duran’s early double proved enough. On a night when Celtic needed a lift, their centre-forward supplied it – and reminded everyone that, whatever happens in Europe, he plans on being at the heart of their domestic story.
