Rangers Knocked Back in Driouech Pursuit
Rangers have seen an improved £6m offer for PSV Eindhoven winger Couhaib Driouech rejected, as the Dutch club hold firm and the market around the 24-year-old begins to crowd.
The Ibrox side had pushed their bid up, only to find the door still closed. PSV are in no rush to sell, and the player’s growing list of admirers only strengthens their hand.
Burnley and Celta Vigo have now stepped into the race, with talks described as being at an early stage. That hasn’t stopped the picture becoming clearer: Driouech is understood to hold a slight preference for Celta Vigo after the Spanish club entered the chase, adding La Liga’s pull to the equation.
Rangers, then, are no longer negotiating in a two-horse race. They are fighting a three-way contest, with a selling club that has already shown it is prepared to say no.
Monaco, Celtic and Rangers Locked Out of Ghedjemis Deal – For Now
On the opposite flank of the transfer market, Monaco have identified Fares Ghedjemis as their priority for the right wing and have already felt the same resistance.
The Ligue 1 club saw a bid worth £6m plus £1.7m in bonuses rejected by Frosinone for the 23-year-old Algeria international. The Italian side have also turned down £8.6m offers from both Celtic and Rangers, underlining just how highly they value the winger.
Monaco plan to return with an improved proposal, intent on landing their top target. Celtic and Rangers, having already had significant bids refused, must now decide whether to stay in a bidding war that is edging towards a premium price, or move on to alternatives.
For now, Frosinone hold the cards, and they are playing them hard.
Hassan Deal Edges Celtic Towards Breakthrough
While Ghedjemis remains out of reach, Celtic’s move for another wide option is gathering decisive pace.
Haissem Hassan has been left out of Real Oviedo’s squad for their pre-season match against Le Havre, with the 24-year-old Egypt winger the subject of a £9m bid from the Scottish champions and waiting for the final green light to undergo a medical.
The structure of the agreement underlines Celtic’s commitment. Hassan is set to sign a contract running until 2030, with Real Oviedo poised to receive £6m up front and a further £1.3m if Celtic reach the Champions League proper.
The only hitch lies off the pitch. Hassan is dealing with visa issues, a bureaucratic delay rather than a footballing one, but enough to keep the move just short of the finish line.
Real Oviedo head coach Julian Calero has already made the club’s stance clear: they will not stand in the player’s way. With the coach publicly aligned with the transfer and the financial package agreed, the deal now hinges on paperwork, not persuasion.
If Celtic push Hassan over the line while Rangers continue to wrestle with PSV and Frosinone, the contrasting outcomes on the flanks could tell their own story when the new season starts.
