Chivu Praises Stones as Key Addition in Inter Rebuild
Cristian Chivu could not hide his satisfaction. On the eve of a high-profile test against Enzo Maresca’s Manchester City, the Inter coach spoke like a man who feels one major piece of his puzzle has just dropped into place.
The arrival of England defender John Stones, he made clear, is not just another signing. It is a statement.
“I’m happy with his arrival; he is important to us for many reasons – for his quality, his personality, and his charisma. He raises the level of our defence,” Chivu said at his pre-match press conference, underlining exactly why Inter pushed to bring in the experienced centre-back.
For a squad that has already operated at a high level for years, Stones represents a deliberate attempt to push the ceiling higher again. Chivu stressed that the group he has is strong, but not yet complete.
