Columbia Clinches Victory as McDaid Scores Late Winner

Temple spent most of the first half on the front foot, moving the ball crisply and asking constant questions of the Columbia back line. The Owls probed from wide areas, slipped passes into the box, and forced Aris Taki into action from all angles.

Taki met every one of those questions with a firm answer.

The Columbia goalkeeper stood tall, reading shots early and handling cleanly to keep Temple out despite the sustained pressure. At the other end, the Lions were hardly bystanders. They carved out chances of their own, only to find Dylan Kaye in equally stubborn mood. Kaye’s sharp reactions and positioning turned away every look Columbia created, and the first 45 minutes ended with both keepers unbeaten and the game somehow still scoreless.

The pattern shifted after the break. Columbia began to dictate more of the tempo, stringing passes together and pinning Temple deeper for longer stretches. The Lions grew into the ball, into the territory, into the belief that one clear opening would come.

It almost didn’t. Temple dug in, closed gaps, and tried to ride out the storm.

Then, with just two minutes left in regulation, the breakthrough finally arrived. The ball fell to Jack McDaid on the right, and he struck cleanly, driving his shot into the back of the net for the decisive moment of the night.

That single, late strike sealed a 1-0 victory for Columbia and left Temple to walk off wondering how all that early control turned into nothing on the scoreboard.
