Daley Blind has not eased his way back into life at Ajax. He has grabbed it.
Signed on a free from Girona after Jordi Cruyff moved swiftly to close the deal before pre-season, the former Manchester United defender has walked straight into the starting XI in Amsterdam and, by all accounts, straight into the heart of the dressing room.
Back under the guidance of his old coach Míchel, Blind has done what experienced players are supposed to do but too often don’t: he has taken charge.
