Deniz Undav Signs Contract Extension with VfB Stuttgart Until 2029
Deniz Undav has tied his future to VfB Stuttgart, signing a new contract that runs until 2029 and includes an option for a further year – a statement of intent from both club and player at the peak of his powers.
The 29-year-old Germany international has grown into the heartbeat of Sebastian Hoeneß’s attack since arriving from Brighton and Hove Albion on loan in the summer of 2023, a move that quickly turned permanent and even more quickly turned decisive. With 46 goals and 18 assists in 86 Bundesliga appearances for Stuttgart, he has forced his way into any serious conversation about the league’s elite forwards.
For Undav, this deal is more than a pay rise or a longer contract. It is a commitment to the place where his career has exploded.
"I'm over the moon to be continuing my career in Stuttgart," he said. “This contract extension means so much to me. The club and the city have become my second home over the past three years – right from day one, everyone welcomed me and my family with open arms and a lot of love. I'm really looking forward to spending many more years as part of the VfB family and enjoying lots more success."
The numbers back up the emotion. Undav’s goals have underpinned Stuttgart’s resurgence: a runners-up finish in the Bundesliga, a DFB Cup triumph and a return to the Champions League. When Hoeneß’s side needed a cutting edge, Undav repeatedly supplied it, from ruthless one-touch finishes to nerveless strikes in high-pressure games.
Inside the club, there is no doubt about his impact.
"Signing Deniz for another three years is an absolute winner, both for us as a club and for Deniz himself," said board member for sport Fabian Wohlgemuth. "In his time in Stuttgart, Deniz has become a Germany international with a World Cup around the corner. VfB finishing runners-up in the league, winning the DFB Cup and just recently qualifying for the Champions League once again has a lot to do with him as well."
The trajectory is striking. From a loan arrival fighting for a place, Undav has become a central figure for both club and country. His rise has carried him all the way into Julian Nagelsmann’s 26-man Germany squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Canada, Mexico and the USA, where he is expected to play a key role.
Stuttgart now move into a new phase with their main striker locked in, their Champions League return secured and a World Cup-bound forward leading the line. For Undav, the next chapter will be written on two stages – the Bundesliga and the world – with Stuttgart firmly at the heart of his story.
