Eli Junior Kroupi: Young Talent Nominee for 2026 Ballon d'Or

Eli Junior Kroupi’s rise has been paused, not stopped.

The Bournemouth forward has been shortlisted for the Men's Young Talent of the Year award ahead of the 2026 Ballon d'Or ceremony, recognition for a breakout season that turned heads across the Premier League.

At 20, Kroupi is one of only three Premier League players in the 10-man list, joined by Manchester City's Ayyoub Bouaddi and Aston Villa's Johan Manzambi. It is elite company, and a sharp reminder of how quickly his stock has risen on the south coast.

Kroupi only made his Bournemouth debut in August 2025. From there, he barely looked back. Thirty-five appearances. Thirteen goals. All competitions. For a first campaign in English football, the numbers carried weight.

The impact went beyond raw totals. By the end of the 2025-26 season, he had scored more goals than any other teenager in their debut Premier League campaign. In a league that chews up young forwards, Kroupi found ways to finish.

That is why this nomination lands with such force at Bournemouth. It validates what they saw last season: a fearless runner, sharp in the box, and already decisive in tight games.

Right now, though, his progress is on hold. A foot injury in pre-season, followed by surgery, has kept him out of every fixture so far this campaign. Bournemouth have had to plan without their young star, and the league has had to wait.

The expectation is that he will return in October or November. If that timeline holds, he could come back to the pitch with a major individual honour already attached to his name.

The Men's Young Talent of the Year award will be handed out at the 70th Ballon d'Or ceremony in London on Monday, 26 October.
