Endrick Poised for Premier League Loan to Regain Form
Endrick, the young Brazilian forward at Real Madrid, seems set to spend another season away from the Spanish giants. Aston Villa, recent Europa League winners, are leading the race to secure his services on loan.
Since joining Madrid in summer 2024 amid huge expectations, the 20-year-old has struggled to cement a place in the first team. Under managers Carlo Ancelotti and Xabi Alonso, he found minutes hard to come by.
His loan spell at Lyon during the second half of the 2025–26 season brought some success, with Endrick scoring eight goals and assisting eight times in 21 games. This form earned him a call-up to Brazil's squad for the 2026 World Cup.
Returning to Madrid early for preseason, Endrick aimed to impress new coach José Mourinho but faces intense competition. Madrid recently added striker Carlos Espí and winger Yan Diomande, making it tougher for Endrick to find playing time either centrally or wide.
Mourinho’s comments about keeping a small squad of 20 players plus injured ones hint that departures like Endrick’s are expected before the September 1 transfer deadline.
Loan Interest from England, Italy, and Spain
Interest in Endrick spans multiple leagues. According to AS, both Aston Villa and Serie A side AS Roma have shown intent to take him on loan following his strong performances in France. Madrid views Endrick as a valuable asset they want to protect from losing value.
To facilitate the move, Los Blancos are reportedly willing to share the cost of his salary, which exceeds €5 million (about $5.75 million) annually.
SPORT names Aston Villa as the most likely destination. Meanwhile, La Liga clubs Real Sociedad, Villarreal, and Real Betis have also expressed interest, with Endrick keen on playing European football.
What Endrick Brings to Aston Villa
Though just 20, Endrick has experienced three managers at Madrid already and has gone from a highly touted prospect to a player struggling for recognition in two years.
The club has shifted focus toward younger talent like Diomande, leaving Endrick on the sidelines. He was once compared to stars such as Vinícius Júnior, Karim Benzema, and even Pelé, but his near €60 million ($69 million) transfer fee hasn't yet matched those expectations.
His loan in France revealed a dynamic forward with explosive speed, strong finishing, and the ability to play both centrally and from the right wing.
Former French international Emmanuel Petit suggested Arsenal might be a good fit for Endrick, describing him as "a diamond" who needs the right environment to develop. Petit noted Endrick’s youth and raw energy, saying sometimes he can be too selfish but has exceptional talent.
