Ferran Torres Pushes for PSG Move from Barcelona
Paris Saint-Germain are closing in on one of the headline moves of the summer – and this time the push is coming from the player himself.
Ferran Torres has told those closest to him that he wants to leave Barcelona for the European champions, a clear stance that has started to shift the mood inside the Camp Nou boardroom and dragged the saga towards the negotiating table.
Torres picks his side
French outlet Foot Mercato reported on Saturday that Torres has made his wish to wear the PSG shirt known within his inner circle and to several Barcelona teammates. That clarity has had consequences. A club that only months ago stood firm on keeping him is now signalling a readiness to listen.
Barcelona and PSG officials are expected to sit down early next week to work through a structure for the transfer. There is no agreement yet, no fee decided, but the lines of communication are open – and that in itself marks a change.
The groundwork from Paris has been laid for some time. Spanish newspaper Sport revealed that PSG informed Torres they are prepared to beat any contract-renewal offer Barcelona might put on the table. The message was simple: if he wants the move, they will back it aggressively.
They believe they can get him over the line.
A forward for Luis Enrique’s puzzle
PSG’s need in attack is obvious. Gonçalo Ramos has gone, leaving a gap in Luis Enrique’s forward line and a vacancy for a versatile, high-level attacker who can adapt to the coach’s demanding, fluid system.
Torres fits that description almost perfectly. He can operate through the middle, drift in from either flank, and understands Enrique’s positional play from their time together with Spain. At 25, he offers both prime years and room to grow.
His numbers from last season only strengthen the case. This was his best campaign in a Barcelona shirt: 16 goals and two assists in 33 La Liga matches, often carrying the attacking burden in key stretches. He arrives at this crossroads not as a reclamation project, but as a forward in full stride.
And then there is the biggest stage of all. Torres played a starring role in Spain’s 2026 World Cup triumph, scoring the winner in the final against Argentina. That goal, on that night, changed how he is viewed across Europe. It marked him out as a player who can decide the tightest games when the pressure is suffocating.
For Enrique, that kind of temperament is as valuable as any tactical trait.
A growing Barcelona–Paris corridor
Inside PSG, Torres has risen to the top of the shortlist. His tactical flexibility, his comfort across the front line, and his familiarity with a possession-heavy, pressing game have made him one of the leading names under serious consideration.
If the deal is completed, he will become the second player in six months to swap Barcelona for Paris, following rising talent Drew Fernández. Ousmane Dembélé made the same journey three seasons ago, and what once felt like an occasional raid is starting to look like a well-worn route.
