Talks between Barça and PSG have accelerated in recent days after the French champions received the forward’s approval, with MARCA reporting that Ferran has already agreed personal terms with the reigning two-time European champions. Once his green light arrived, negotiations shifted quickly from exploratory to decisive.

The framework of the transfer is in place. What remains on the table now are the finer points: how the fee will be structured, and which performance-related add-ons will be attached. Barcelona, who are heading into the final year of Ferran’s contract, are confident of securing a total package in the region of €50 million, a significant figure for a player entering the last 12 months of his deal.

The move has not come out of nowhere. Earlier this week, Ferran publicly opened the door to a possible exit, his comments about his future at Barcelona making headlines and alerting Europe’s elite. PSG did not hesitate. Once it became clear that Torres was open to a new challenge in Paris, the French club moved with purpose.

Luis Enrique’s hand in this is clear. After sanctioning the sales of Gonçalo Ramos and Randal Kolo Muani this summer, PSG suddenly found themselves light in the centre-forward department. The coach identified Ferran as the profile he wanted to plug that gap, a versatile forward capable of operating across the front line and offering depth behind the club’s main attacking stars.
