Flavio Cobolli Shares Insights on Practice Session with Jannik Sinner Ahead of Comeback

Jannik Sinner is close to making his return to the tennis circuit. Reports confirm he plans to compete at next week's China Open in Beijing, where he holds the defending champion title. The Italian star has been sidelined due to a knee injury since his victory over Alexander Zverev in the 2026 Wimbledon final.

Despite his absence, Sinner still leads the ATP rankings. However, his top spot faces pressure from Zverev, who recently won the US Open and trails by fewer than 2000 points. If results favor the German, he could overtake Sinner before the season ends.

Training with Flavio Cobolli in Monte Carlo

Before his comeback, Sinner has been training in Monte Carlo. He recently practiced with fellow Italian and Roland Garros runner-up, Flavio Cobolli. Cobolli, 24, is currently in London for the Laver Cup, representing Team Europe.

In an interview with Super Tennis TV, Cobolli reflected on their time together. "We joked a lot," he said. "It was really nice to see him back on the court. Whenever I can, I try to make the most of our practice sessions. He's one of the people who teaches me the most; I always look forward to training with him." Cobolli has had his best season in 2026 so far.

Cobolli's Role at the Laver Cup

This marks Cobolli's third consecutive Laver Cup appearance. He debuted in 2024 when Team Europe prevented Team World from winning three titles in a row. Although he won’t play on day one, the event kicks off with a doubles match featuring Carlos Alcaraz and Jakub Mensik against Alexander Bublik and Taylor Fritz.

Team Europe is led by captain Yannick Noah with vice-captain Tim Henman. On the other side, Team World is captained by Andre Agassi and vice-captained by Pat Rafter.
