Fridolina Rolfö Out for 2026/27 Season Due to Pregnancy

Manchester United will be without Fridolina Rolfö for the whole of the 2026/27 campaign after the Sweden international confirmed she is pregnant.

The versatile forward was absent from United’s WSL opening-day defeat away to London City Lionesses last Friday. At the time, her omission raised quiet questions. Now the reason is clear, with Rolfö having shared the news with her teammates before it became public.

For Eva Olid, it is a bittersweet moment. United lose one of their most adaptable and experienced attacking options, a player capable of operating across the front line and out wide, for the rest of the season and likely into the early stages of 2027/28 as she works back to full fitness.

The situation underlines a growing theme in United’s squad. Last season, winger Celin Bizet Dønnum announced her pregnancy after playing her final game in October 2025 and has yet to return to first-team action. Rolfö now follows a similar path, leaving Olid to reshape her attacking plans once again.

United must adjust quickly. The WSL season has only just begun, but one of their headline forwards will not kick a ball for them this year – and her comeback, whenever it comes, will mark another significant chapter in both her career and the club’s evolving story.
