In July 2023, Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma and his then-pregnant partner, Alessia Elefante, experienced a frightening home invasion. Recent court proceedings in Paris have shed light on the violent break-in that took place while the couple was asleep in their luxury apartment on Avenue Montaigne.
The Incident Unfolded
The robbers entered their home by climbing onto the roof with a ladder, lowering themselves onto the balcony, then breaking in through a window. The intruders threatened the couple with knives and bound them during the ordeal.
- Donnarumma was awakened by a man whispering "shh" before being hit in the face with a knuckle duster and threatened with a knife.
- The assailant demanded watches, repeatedly saying, "The watches, the watches." Donnarumma showed him an Audemars Piguet watch from the dressing table, known to be worth hundreds of thousands of euros.
- Elefante reported being attacked as well, with thieves yelling, "The money, the watches." She gave them a Cartier watch, jewelry, and about €2,000 in cash.
- The robbers asked for the safe code, but Elefante said she did not know it and insisted the safe was empty.
- Despite her claim of pregnancy, the attackers pulled her hair and struck her thighs.

Robbers’ Loot and Suspects
The thieves escaped with luxury handbags, cash, watches, and keys to a Mercedes and a Lamborghini. Police investigations revealed four suspects; two men, Ilyas Kherbouch (21) and Khyan Mamouni, are accused of orchestrating the attack from prison. Kherbouch, who has multiple prior convictions and briefly escaped custody earlier this year, caused disruptions at the trial by insulting officers.
Aftermath
Donnarumma, who was playing for Paris Saint-Germain during the incident, is not expected to testify at the hearing, which is set for two days. Both he and Elefante remain deeply shaken by what happened. Since then, the couple has married and welcomed a child.
