Ipswich Town Unveils New Kits for 2026/27 Season
Ipswich Town have turned the clock forward to next season, unveiling home and away kits for the 2026/27 Premier League campaign that lean heavily on history, atmosphere and a clear sense of place.
Home shirt: under the Portman Road lights
The new home strip is built around a simple idea: those night games under the Portman Road floodlights. The club says the shirt “takes inspiration from the atmospheric evening games under the Portman Road lights”, and it shows.
Running through the body of the shirt is an embossed graphic, echoing the pattern created by the structure between the floodlights on both the Sir Bobby Robson and Sir Alf Ramsey Stands. It’s a subtle detail, but one that pins the design firmly to the stadium and its skyline.
A navy trim frames the neckline and sleeves. White side panels cut down the shirt and flow cleanly into a blue side trim on the white shorts, giving the kit a sharp, modern outline. Blue socks with a white-and-blue turnover complete a look that keeps the club’s traditional palette but gives it a more tailored edge.
Away kit: a bold nod to ‘Abbot Ale’ days
If the home shirt is about the present, the away kit reaches straight back to the late nineties.
Town have revisited the much-loved 1996–98 cream and black ‘Abbot Ale’ away strip, but with a twist. The solid black vertical blocks of that era are gone, replaced by horizontal red and black stripes that give the shirt a more aggressive, contemporary feel.
The club crest follows suit. Just as it did on the late-nineties strip, the badge is reworked in red and black, tying the whole design together and underlining the retro reference without turning it into a straight remake.
The rest of the kit stays dark: black shorts and black socks, the latter finished with a cream turnover that nods again to the original.
Sponsors, suppliers and what comes next
Both shirts carry the logo of main sponsor Halo across the chest, with Ed Sheeran’s Play tour logo on the sleeve, a now-familiar link between club and local superstar.
Umbro produce the strips for a fifth consecutive year, but this is a farewell run. Town are expected to switch kit supplier next summer, with Nike strongly tipped to take over. A third kit will follow once the new season is under way, adding another layer to what is shaping up as a significant refresh of the club’s look.
Launch day rooted in Suffolk’s grassroots
Town used the launch for more than just a reveal. The club has tied the new kits directly to the county game, making a significant donation to support grassroots football across Suffolk.
Every club in the county has been offered a grant towards their youth team kit for the new season. Around 40 clubs that have already taken up the offer sent representatives to Portman Road for the unveiling, sharing the stage with first-team players from both the men’s and women’s sides.
It turned a standard kit launch into a broader statement: the new shirts may be built for the Premier League, but the club wants them to mean something on village pitches and community grounds across Suffolk as well.
On sale and in demand
The full range is now on sale online and at Planet Blue. Men’s, women’s and youth sizes are available, with adult shirts running from S through to 5XL and women’s fit from size 8 through to 20. Children’s mini-kits are also on the shelves.
Planet Blue opens from 3.15pm to 8pm today, then 9am to 5pm on Saturday and 10am to 4pm on Sunday, with shirts also available at the Halo Festival at Trinity Park on Saturday.
Supporters will have to wait a little longer for the final personal touch. Shirt printing with names from the men’s and women’s squads will only begin once the club confirms squad numbers.
For now, the new era is hanging on the rails, lit by the memory of old floodlights and the promise of Premier League nights to come.
