Ivan Toney Charged with Assault After Nightclub Incident

England striker Ivan Toney has been charged with assault causing actual bodily harm following an incident at a London nightclub in Soho.

The charge, confirmed on July 31, relates to events on Dec. 6, 2025, and places one of England’s most recent World Cup squad members at the centre of a criminal case away from the pitch. Toney is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Sept. 24.

The 28-year-old, now with Al Ahli in the Saudi Pro League, has acknowledged the charge through his representatives. A spokesperson said Toney is “naturally shocked” but added that he looks forward to the chance to clear his name in court.

It marks a stark contrast to his summer, when he forced his way into England’s World Cup plans. Used largely from the bench, Toney was a late substitute in the 2-1 semifinal defeat to Argentina as England chased a leveller. His only start came in the chaotic third-place playoff against France, a 6-4 England win that underlined the attacking firepower at Gareth Southgate’s disposal.

Toney has 10 caps and one goal for his country, his rise from domestic hopeful to international forward charted through persistence and a sharp eye for goal.
