Juventus Injury Crisis: Locatelli and Boga Out

Juventus’ injury nightmare deepened on Monday as the club confirmed knee surgery for Manuel Locatelli and a significant thigh problem for Jeremie Boga, stripping yet more depth from an already depleted squad.

Locatelli blow: meniscus surgery, long lay-off

The alarm bells had already started ringing after the 1-1 draw with Milan at the Allianz Stadium, when Locatelli limped away with a knee issue. Now comes the grim confirmation.

Juventus announced that the midfielder underwent surgery in Lyon to repair the external meniscus in his right knee. The procedure, a suture rather than a simple clean-up, points to a lengthy recovery path.

Initial indications suggest Locatelli could be sidelined until 2027. Sky Sport Italia reports that the absence may stretch to five or even six months, a huge setback for both player and club at a crucial stage of the season.

For a side already stripped of options, losing a central reference point like Locatelli is a brutal hit. He is not just a name on the team sheet; he is a rhythm-setter, a balance piece, the kind of player coaches build game plans around. Now Juventus must learn to live without him for a long time.

Boga sidelined as muscle problems mount

As if that were not enough, the medical bulletin delivered another unwelcome update.

Jeremie Boga has been diagnosed with a medium-grade lesion to the femoral biceps in his left thigh. It is the kind of muscular injury that punishes explosive wide players most, cutting into their acceleration, their sharp turns, their one-on-one threat.

Juventus’ medical staff will reassess the winger’s condition in two weeks after further tests, but the outlook is already clear: Boga is expected to miss at least a month, with the more realistic estimate around five weeks.

So while Locatelli disappears from the picture for the long term, Boga’s absence strips more dynamism from the attack in the short to medium term. Another option gone. Another reshuffle required.

A squad stretched to breaking point

These latest setbacks land on a dressing room already crowded with absentees. For the recent clash with Milan, Juventus were forced to do without Kenan Yildiz, Khephren Thuram, Weston McKennie, Jeff Ekhator, Juan Cabal, Andrea Cambiaso and Pape Matar Sarr.

That list read like a warning. Now it feels like a crisis.

Key positions are thinning out. Rotations become gambles rather than choices. Every training session carries risk. Every match demands another compromise.

Juventus have endured injury storms before, but this one is gathering pace just as the calendar tightens and the stakes rise. With Locatelli gone for months and Boga out for several crucial weeks, the question is no longer just who plays next weekend.

It is how long this squad can keep absorbing the blows before something gives in their season.
