Juventus and Inter Explore Frattesi–Gonzalez Swap Deal
Two of Italy’s heavyweights are testing the limits of the transfer market’s imagination again. Juventus and Inter Milan are exploring a swap deal that would send Davide Frattesi to Turin and Nicolas Gonzalez the other way, in a move designed to plug gaps in both squads without a straight cash outlay.
This is not window-dressing. Both clubs want what the other has.
Spalletti’s target: Frattesi
Juventus have tracked Frattesi for a while, with Luciano Spalletti pushing for a reunion. The coach is convinced the midfielder can lift the technical level and intensity of his side, and the club has stayed alert to any opening that might bring him in.
Frattesi fits the profile Juventus have been trying to rebuild around: energetic, tactically disciplined, and already proven in Serie A. For Spalletti, it is a player he believes he can maximise. For the club, it is a chance to add quality without entering a bidding war.
Inter’s answer: Gonzalez
On the other side of the table, Inter have turned their focus to Nicolas Gonzalez as they hunt for another winger. The Argentinian has steadily built his reputation over recent seasons and is seen in Milan as a ready-made option to deepen and diversify their attacking threat.
Inter’s need is clear. They want another wide player who can stretch games, attack space, and contribute immediately. Gonzalez ticks those boxes, and the club views him as a serious candidate to refresh their options in the final third.
According to Calciomercato, initial talks between the clubs now centre on Frattesi and Gonzalez, with Juventus working to deliver one of Spalletti’s preferred players and Inter pushing for a winger they consider capable of stepping straight into their rotation.
Gonzalez’s stance and Juventus’ leverage
The same report underlines why Juventus are open to including Gonzalez in such negotiations. The winger impressed during his loan spell at Atletico Madrid last season and has made it clear he does not want to play for Juventus again.
That position changes the dynamics. A permanent exit looks inevitable, and a swap deal becomes a logical route if it allows all parties to walk away satisfied. For Gonzalez, it offers a clean break. For Juventus, it avoids an unhappy player returning to the squad. For Inter, it could solve a pressing need on the flank.
Juventus, though, will not walk into this blindly.
The valuation gap
Inside the talks lies a hard reality: Frattesi and Gonzalez are not seen as having the same market value. Any agreement will have to reflect that gap before Juventus sign off.
The Turin club are expected to approach the negotiations with caution, looking not only at the sporting fit but at the financial balance. If Frattesi is rated higher in the current market, Juventus will demand that difference is recognised, potentially through an additional cash payment on top of Gonzalez.
Only then does the swap become acceptable from their side.
If discussions keep moving in the right direction, the deal could neatly solve problems for both clubs: Inter secure a winger they have targeted, Juventus land a midfielder their coach trusts implicitly.
