Juventus Pursues Zirkzee Amid Kolo Muani Negotiations
Joshua Zirkzee has given the green light to Juventus – and the clock has started in Turin.
La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that the Manchester United forward has offered initial approval to a summer move, with Juventus now pushing to turn that willingness into a loan deal. Talks with his agent, Kia Joorabchian, are described as intense, the kind of back-and-forth that usually signals a club in a hurry.
And Juventus are very much in a hurry.
Massara’s long chase
This is not a name plucked from nowhere. New football director Ricky Massara has been an admirer of Zirkzee for some time, having already tried to take him to Roma in the winter window. The opportunity slipped away then; he does not intend to miss it again.
Zirkzee’s profile explains the persistence. In Serie A with Bologna in 2023-24, the Dutchman delivered 12 goals and seven assists, a breakout season that underlined his blend of technique, link-up play and intelligence between the lines. He looked like the archetype of the modern centre-forward: comfortable dropping deep, sharp in tight spaces, happy to knit moves together rather than simply finish them.
His Premier League chapter has been far less kind. Since moving to England, he has struggled to nail down a starting place, with just 19 starts in 68 league appearances across two seasons. The talent has never really been in doubt; the rhythm of regular football has. Juventus believe they can offer that, and that Luciano Spalletti’s system can give him a stage that suits his feet and his brain.
Spalletti wants a technically gifted focal point, someone who can act as a wall pass, a creator and a finisher. Zirkzee ticks those boxes.
Double track: Zirkzee and Kolo Muani
Zirkzee, though, is only half of the plan.
While they work United on a loan formula, Juventus are also locked in negotiations with Paris Saint-Germain over Randal Kolo Muani. According to Gazzetta, CEO Giovanni Carnevali is driving talks over a €40 million move for the France international as the club attempts a rapid rebuild of its frontline.
The strategy is clear: refinement plus raw speed. Zirkzee to orchestrate, Kolo Muani to stretch and attack space. Juventus believe that pairing can transform an attack that has too often looked static and predictable.
The urgency has been sharpened by the injury to young striker Jeff Ekhator, which has stripped depth from an already thin forward line. What might have been a gradual evolution has turned into an aggressive market push.
The pressure is now on the Juventus hierarchy to deliver the deals and deliver them quickly.
Spalletti waits – and the calendar looms
Spalletti is waiting for clarity. The head coach wants his attacking puzzle pieces in place as early as possible to bed in combinations before the season starts. Pre-season is not just about fitness for him; it is about automatisms, patterns, timing.
Every week without Zirkzee and Kolo Muani in training is a week lost.
That matters, because Juventus cannot afford a slow start. Their Serie A campaign opens away to newly-promoted Frosinone on August 23, a fixture that looks gentle on paper but can easily turn awkward for a side still learning each other’s movements.
By then, the questions will need answers. Will Zirkzee be leading the line, finally trusted as a central figure again? Will Kolo Muani be running channels in black and white rather than in Parisian colours? Or will Juventus arrive in Frosinone still waiting for the attack they have spent the summer trying to build?
