Karim Adeyemi has not come to Barcelona to play a supporting role. He has come to compete – even if that means going head‑to‑head with the club’s brightest new star.

Asked directly whether he feared fighting Lamine Yamal for minutes on the wing, Adeyemi did not flinch.
“No. I’m not afraid of any player,” he said. “I know that if I give my best, I’ll have a chance to play.”
No diplomacy. No soft landing. Just a clear message from a 24-year-old who has just swapped Borussia Dortmund for the Camp Nou and believes he belongs on this stage.
Flick, trust and a simple phone call

“Convince is the wrong word,” he explained. “He simply called me and asked if I wanted to come. I told him, of course, because it’s the biggest club in the world and these opportunities only come once. He didn’t have to convince me. I’ve trusted him for a long time, and I have a lot of respect for him.
“I hope he sees things in me that I can contribute to the team on the pitch. He knows me very well from the national team, and we’re very close.”
That existing bond from their time together with Germany has smoothed what could have been a daunting transition. For Flick, Adeyemi is not a gamble; he is a known quantity. For Adeyemi, the coach is a reference point in a dressing room packed with young talent and heavy expectations.
